Sailor Moon, also known as Usagi Tsukino, is the main protagonist of the Sailor Moon series. She is the leader of the Sailor Guardians and the reincarnation of Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom.

As a civilian, Usagi is a cheerful, clumsy, and somewhat lazy teenage girl who enjoys eating sweets and playing video games. Despite her initial reluctance to become a hero, she grows into her role as the defender of love and justice.

Role in the Series

As the main protagonist, Sailor Moon's journey forms the core of the series. She begins as a reluctant hero who would rather play video games than fight evil, but gradually matures into a powerful leader who is willing to sacrifice herself to save those she loves.

Throughout the series, she discovers her past life as Princess Serenity and her destined love with Prince Endymion (reincarnated as Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask). She forms deep friendships with the other Sailor Guardians and eventually becomes Neo-Queen Serenity in the future timeline.

Character Growth

Usagi's character development is central to the series. She starts as an immature crybaby but grows into a compassionate, brave, and selfless leader. Her greatest strength is her pure heart and her ability to see the good in everyone, even her enemies. This often leads to her being able to heal and redeem those who have been corrupted by evil.

By the end of the series, she has matured significantly while still maintaining her cheerful and loving personality. Her future self, Neo-Queen Serenity, rules Crystal Tokyo alongside King Endymion, and they have a daughter named Chibiusa (Small Lady).
