Sailor Pluto, also known as Setsuna Meioh, is one of the Outer Senshi in the Sailor Moon series. She is the Guardian of Time and Space, tasked with protecting the Space-Time Door.

As a civilian, Setsuna is a university student studying physics and astronomy. She is the most mature and mysterious of the Sailor Guardians, with a calm and wise demeanor. She later joins Uranus and Neptune in raising Hotaru (Sailor Saturn).

Role in the Series

Sailor Pluto first appeared in the Black Moon arc (Sailor Moon R in the anime) guarding the Door of Space-Time. She helped Chibiusa and later the other Sailor Guardians travel through time. Initially, she was bound to her post at the Space-Time Door and could not leave.

In the Infinity arc (Sailor Moon S), she was reborn on Earth as Setsuna Meioh after sacrificing herself to save the others by stopping time. She then joined Uranus and Neptune in their mission. Her wisdom and experience often provided crucial guidance to the team.

Guardian of Time

As the Guardian of Time, Pluto has existed for millennia, watching over the flow of time from her solitary post at the Space-Time Door. This long isolation has given her a somewhat melancholic personality, though she deeply values the friendships she forms with the other Sailor Guardians.

Her duty is one of the most solemn among the Sailor Guardians, as she must prevent anyone from altering the timeline and potentially causing catastrophic paradoxes. She is bound by ancient laws and taboos that she must not break, even at great personal cost.

The Outer Senshi Family

After the events of the Infinity arc, Setsuna joins Haruka (Uranus) and Michiru (Neptune) in raising the reborn Hotaru (Saturn). This creates a unique family unit that fans affectionately call the "Outer Senshi family." In this arrangement, Setsuna often takes on a motherly role, providing stability and wisdom to balance Haruka's protective nature and Michiru's artistic sensibilities.
