Sailor Uranus, also known as Haruka Tenoh, is one of the Outer Senshi in the Sailor Moon series. She is the Guardian of the Sky and possesses the power of wind and earth-shaking forces.

As a civilian, Haruka is a talented racer (both cars and motorcycles) and athlete. She has a tomboyish appearance and is often mistaken for a handsome young man. She is the partner of Sailor Neptune.

Role in the Series

Sailor Uranus first appeared in the Infinity arc (Sailor Moon S in the anime) alongside Sailor Neptune. Initially, they worked independently from the Inner Senshi, with a more pragmatic approach to their mission. They were willing to sacrifice individuals (including the holders of the talismans) if it meant saving the world.

Uranus is known for her determination and sometimes harsh methods. She and Neptune initially viewed the Inner Senshi as naive and inexperienced. However, over time, she came to respect them and work together with the team.

Relationship with Neptune

Haruka shares a deep bond with Michiru Kaioh (Sailor Neptune). They are partners in every sense - as Sailor Guardians and in their personal lives. Their relationship is one of the most prominent LGBTQ+ representations in 1990s anime. They complement each other perfectly: Haruka is bold and direct, while Michiru is elegant and refined.

Later in the series, they become surrogate parents to Hotaru (Sailor Saturn) along with Setsuna (Sailor Pluto), forming a family unit that fans often refer to as the "Outer Senshi family."
